Highway Bureau, MOTC
The Highway Bureau is committed to provincial highway engineering, highway transportation management and highway supervision, simplifying administration and facilitating the people. The business scope is divided into three categories: road engineering, road transportation and road supervision, providing convenient and safe services for the public.
Service Items

Documents should be prepared:

  1. The identity certificate of the vehicle owner:
    • Registration in the name of an individual: the original national ID card (or military ID card or residence permit for foreigners).
    • Registration in the name of the company and bank number: the official document (including the registration form for the company) approved by the company and bank number authority for registration or the registration certificate issued by the company and bank number authority, and the uniform number assigned by the financial and taxation authority should be provided . If the registration is in the name of the liaison office, office or correspondence office of the company or bank number, in addition to the certificate of the head office and bank number, a uniform number assigned by the financial and taxation authority of the head office and bank number shall also be provided. However, if the certification documents submitted for inspection are photocopies, the company and the company number must also submit a photocopy of the most recent business tax payment certification documents.
    • Registration in the name of an agency, school or group: official certification documents of the agency, school or group, and a uniform number assigned by the financial and taxation agency.
    • Register in the name of the person performing the business: a photocopy of the identity card of the person in charge of the business execution and a certificate issued by the practice certificate or a certificate issued by the association, and a unified number allocation notice shall be submitted.
  2. Seal.
  3. Compulsory automobile liability insurance certificate (the insurance period must be more than 30 days).
  4. Vehicle certificate:
    • Domestically-produced cars: Certificate of ex-factory and exemption of goods tax.
    • Imported vehicles: Customs import and goods tax payment (exemption) certificate, certificate of delivery.
    • Uniform invoice (indicating engine and body number for domestic cars, and engine or body number for imported cars).
  5. Vehicle type safety inspection certificate.
  6. Two new registration certificates for automobile (motor) vehicles.
  7. The proof of completion of the anti-theft identification code for specific vehicle components.

Fees:

  1. Inspection fee: NT$450 for small cars and NT$200 for locomotives.
  2. License plate tax: NT$600 for cars and NT$300 for locomotives.
  3. Vehicle license fee: NT$200 for cars, NT$150 for motorcycles (the fuel cost of the motorcycle is extra).

Matters needing attention:

  1. The license tax and fuel usage fee must be paid at the same time.
  2. The owner of the car under the age of 18 should submit the guardian's consent and the original guardian's identity card.
  3. Those who have applied for a temporary license must return it.
  4. For imported cars, please apply for a license from the highway supervision unit of the inspection within one month after passing the inspection. After the expiration date, they should re-inspect the vehicle (and pay the inspection fee). Carry out inspection and pay inspection fees.
