Kaohsiung City Motor Vehicles Office says in addition to licensing, compulsory auto liability insurance has also been required for Mini Two Wheel Electric Vehicles since November 30, 2022. In light of the increasing number of accidents related to Mini Two Wheel Electric Vehicles and to maintain social security, owners are required to have their vehicles insured to ensure immediate payouts for victims of accidents. 

The owner of a Mini Two Wheel Electric Vehicle without compulsory insurance will be fined NT$750 to NT$1,500 in accordance with Article 49 of the Compulsory Automobile Liability Insurance Law. The owner of an uninsured Mini Two Wheel Electric Vehicle will be fined from NT$9,000 to NT$12,000, if accidents should happen.

The Kaohsiung City Motor Vehicles Office reminds you that according to Article 5-1 and 51-1 of the Compulsory Automobile Liability Insurance Law, Mini Two Wheel Electric Vehicles without compulsory insurance will not be eligible for license plate renewal or issuance.

If the insured person has not renewed the insurance for 6 months after the expiration of the insurance period, the competent authority may refer the license plate to the highway authority for cancellation.

If you have not yet taken out compulsory insurance, please do so as soon as possible!
